Five Generations
Daniel Plooij junior
Daniel's mother's (Adriana Johanna's) father. Taylor, Schiedam.
Jacob Fontijne's daughter and Daniel's mother.
Well, great-great-great Grandma!
Daniel's father. Taylor, Schiedam.
Who is the grand-child?
L to R: Prof. Dr. J.H. Gunning (1829-1905), the famous professor, Ds. J.H. Gunning (1802-1889) his father, J.H. Gunning (1882-1960), the baby, son of his cousin Pniel, and Dr. J.H. Gunning (1858-1940), son of the famous professor, whom oma BHW referred to as Pniel.
Daniel's wife's (Beatrix Hendrika Wilhelmina's) father. Vicar, Oosthem. Younger brother of the famousProfessor Dr. Johannus Hermanus(1829-1905).
Don't you wish you could read Dutch?
L to R: aunt Mies, aunt Aleid, aunt Clara, Aagje Gunning-Koning, uncle Jan, aunt Trix (BHW, Daniel's Plooij's future wife), Edward Bernard Gunning, aunt Marie, aunt Annet, aunt Mop, and aunt Roos.
ps. My sister Trix thinks (and I am inclined to agree with her) that they made a mistake in the Dutch Patriciaats Book, in which there is an article about the Gunning famly. Roos is the third youngest daughter and still with her hair down, which was customary in those days! All the others have their hair up....
This is E.B.'s son.
Sitting: Margaretha van der Flier-Gunning (Mop), Ds J.H. G, Marie G., Jacomine M.Dronkers-G (Mies).
Standing: Françoise C. Rijnders-G.(Roos), Anna R.G.Gunning-Plaat, Anna E.Brunt-G.(Annet), Aaltje J. Meischke-G.(Aleid), Clara J.B. Bosschieter-G. And Beatrix H.W. Plooij-Gunning. (Info. supplied by Frits Gunning via Arnold Plooij).
I think here Daniel advises a committee concerning a modern translation of the New Testament.
This is not a wedding photo.
Probably taken on the occasion of her engagement or wedding.
Are Daniel and Trix here visiting Daniel's mother, Adriana Johanna Fontijne? Is the lady on the left one of Trix's sisters, if so who? There is another lady on the far left, but the photo was so torn I had to cut it. Notice the beautiful dog in the foreground!
Apart from the bride and groom and the parents Gunning it is very hard to tell who is who. Probably two married or engaged sisters and Beatrix's other siblings. Can anyone help. This is a rare photo indeed!
Here are both Beatrix and Daniel's parents. Aunt Margo, better known as aunty Mop was there probably to help as a nanny. She is Beatrix's youngest sister. Taken in the garden of the manse at Heeze, Daniel's first parish, early summer 1905. My sister Trix thinks Beeb is in the cot, but I can't quite see her.....
L to R: son Eddie, father Daniel, mother Beatrix, daughter Beeb, aunt Mop, daughter Aagje, aunt Roos. (Not too sure about Beatrix's sister Roos).
This Aagje died in 1922. I reckon the children are Beatrix's eldest two, Eddie and Beeb. Or Tieke and Jaap??)
17-7-1913 is written at the back of the photo. BHW jr., my sister Trix, cut this bit out of a photo that was sent as a postcard to "Plooij, Fashion Magazine, Hoek of Holland", so that must have been Uncle Willem! Jaap must have been 91/2 months old at the time. He himself said that it was indeed him.
AmI right in recognising Oma Beatrix left of the middle, and tante Aagje next to opa Daniel on the right/ It must be possible to name the others. Can anyone help? Daniel has his hair parted here.
Daniel had his hair parted here too.
On the beach.
I would like help with naming the children, please!
On the beach at Katwijk.
Can anyone help to identify....?
Again I need help to identify.
Jaap is sitting on the "Flying Dutchman".
Is that half of little Henk on the left?
Left to right: Catharinus(Tieke), Margaritha Titiana(Go), Adriana Johanna(Beeb), Edward Bernard(Eddie), Marius(Maes), Jacob(Jaap), Aagje, Rendel Harris(Henk) and Johannus Hermanus(Jan)
This is at his brother Henk's wedding.
Daughter of oom Henk's first marriage to tante Annet (I think). I never knew her and Kieke only fairly recently re-found the Plooij family. Great!
This is how we remember her. The photo was taken in her own home in Schiedam, where the Plooijs come from. She died in 1959.
Where was this taken?
Was this taken in the same room as the previous picture?
The two ladies on the left are unknown. This picture was taken in Oud Leusden.
Where was this taken?
Jaap is the one with the tooter (second row). Jan Groot is the one with the broad grin at the opposite side of the table (not the one on the corner).
I think Daniel is the one with the hat on standing on the third step near the left. Jaap is in the middle of the front row.
Who are the girls? What make of car is it?
This must have been taken on the same outing.
Which garden?
Is it the same garden?
See if you can identify some relatives! It would also be interesting to know who some of the others are.
L to R: Beeb, Tieke, Oma Beatrix, Jan, Go and Jaap
Taken in the garden of the manse in Bemmel.
Taken at my parents' (Jaap & Mimi's) place in Haarlem.
Taken in her retirement home in The Hague.
L to R: Aagje, Go, Beatrix, Eddie, Jaap, Beeb and Maes
L to R: Aagje, Go, Beatrix and Beeb
L to R: Trix Gooszen-Boelens (daughter of oom Gerard and tante Go); Annet ?-Plooij (daughter of oom Tieke and tante Els); Carolien ?-Plooij (daughter of oom Jan and tante Dinie); oma Beatrix; Trix de Pagter-Plooij (daughter of Jaap and Mimi); Tjoel ?-Plooij (daughter of oom Eddie and tante Plux); and Jeannette Beatrix Gooszen (daughter of Trix Goosze-Boelens)
Aunty Plux (Eddie's wife), Esther (Plux's grand-daughter), Oma, Esther's child Maaike, Tjoel (Plux's eldest daughter)
That's me! In those days already diligent and obedient.....
